Masimo Operations Delayed, Britain Cyberattack Surge, Scotland Co-op Hacked
Hello friends! We are already moving into week 2 of May. As always, we are here with our weekly dose of cyber bulletins. Our ultimate goal is to make you aware and protect you, so that you are away from the clutches of threat actors.
This week, we will discuss the cyberattack on Masimo Corporation. Next, we will shed light on why Britain is experiencing a steep surge in threat attacks. Lastly, we will focus on Scotland’s co-op stores, which are being targeted by cybercrooks.
Let’s dive deeper into the details!

Masimo Corporation experiencing operational delays because of a cyberattack!
Masimo Corporation, a reputed medical device manufacturing company, has faced a cyberattack recently. As a result, its production operations have been affected. This California-based medical technology as well as consumer electronics manufacturer is popular for products like brain function monitors, pulse oximeters, gas monitoring solutions, and so on. It employs over 3600 employees around the world.
Masimo has informed the USA authorities and filed the Form 8-K filing. As per the medical equipment manufacturing company, cybercrooks targeted them on 27th April, 2025. Because of the cyber mishap, they are facing major delays in manufacturing as well as business operations. Multiple facilities under Masimo Corporation are operating more slowly than normal. As a result, currently, they are unable to process, fulfil, and ship all the customer orders in time.
Masimo is working persistently to restore its online system and go back to normal day-to-day operations.

As per Masimo Corporation, the cyberattack targeted their on-premise systems but could not access their cloud-based infrastructure. Masimo is working hand in hand with external cybersecurity experts to mitigate the damage caused by the threat attack.
So far, the cyberattackers have not been traced.
Britain Facing a Steep Surge in Cyberattacks Due to Increased AI adoption!
Increased AI integration is resulting in a sudden surge in incidents of cyberattacks across Britain. Senior minister Pat McFadden is concerned about the entire AI adoption issue. They believe that this AI adoption will not only boost the frequency of the cyberattacks but also the intensity of the attacks.
In recent times, several British companies, organizations, institutions, and public bodies have been targeted by threat actors, resulting in herculean expenses and months of operational delays and disruptions. Renowned names such as Harrods, Marks & Spencer, and the Co-Op Group have also faced threats. Marks & Spencer has not yet been able to restore their online fashion orders.

They have not yet shared details about the type of cyberattacks they experienced. Cybersecurity experts believe that only by matching the pace of the threat can attackers stay safe and secure in this digital landscape.
While speaking at a cybersecurity event of NCSC 2025, McFadden stated that 2024 experienced as many as 2000 threat attacks. Out of these, 90 turned out to be ‘significant’ while the 12 were considered to be at ‘the very top end of severity’.
Experts urge everyone to see the recent threat attacks as a wake-up call. He believes that both the public and private sectors must take cyberattacks seriously and prepare to fight against AI-backed cyberattacks.
Later this year, the government is planning to come up with bolstered legislation and strategies designed to strengthen the cybersecurity system.
Britain is facing a steep surge in cyberattacks due to increased AI adoption, prompting cybersecurity experts to urge organizations to implement email authentication protocols like DMARC, DKIM, and SPF to defend against sophisticated threats posed by cyberattackers.

Co-op stores in Scotland being targeted by cyberattackers!
The co-op stores across Scotland’s islands are facing cyberattacks. As a result, they are running out of fresh food supplies. They have informed the BBC that due to the recent incidents of cyberattacks, they have lost a ‘significant’ amount of customer data. The co-op spokesperson stated that the inventory supplies to these stores are being affected because of the cyber mishap. They also said that their staff have been working continuously to restore the system and end the disruption at the earliest.
The Co-ops are running low on fresh milk. There are absolutely no vegetables, meat, or dairy products. Co-ops in Kyle and Broadford are also facing similar situations.

Although they expect fresh deliveries to arrive soon, the impact of the cyberattack can’t be denied completely.
One of the Co-op spokespersons has mentioned how they are trying to secure their cybersecurity systems to keep the attackers at bay. They are working closely with relevant authorities as well as external cybersecurity experts to minimize the impact of the threat attack. Because of this drill, the supply of fresh food is also being affected.
They are grateful to their loyal customers, suppliers, members, as well as colleagues for standing by their side in this testing time. They have requested people to be patient as they are hopeful about things going back to normal pretty soon!
